Olney Martial Arts was opened in 2008 with instructor Kelly Henby. Caleb Buscher assists in coaching and working with all students. The program is run to teach students physically, mentally and emotionally. Some parts of martial arts can be challenging. We think that this is good training for all. The key is that we challenge with attainable challenges so they each student is successfull the majority of the time. We want confident, inspired students.
Martial Arts teaches more than defense and protection; it trains a person to be patience, respectful, hard working, self sufficient and strong. Furthermore, it develops a successful work ethic, improves hand-eye-coordination, teaches how to follow instruction, increases thought processes in stressful senarious, and encourages healthy discipline. Our students are more than a member to us, they are family and we enjoy watching them grow.
Our studio offers multiple training devices including wavemasters, dummies, blocking pads and more. Participants are able to spar in our courses therefore have real time practice on their reflexes and thinking. Practice weapons are used to demonstrate how to defend against an attacker with a knife or gun and maneuvers are developed to oppose a frontal, side, behind or multiple offenders attack.
Each session students have the capability of promotions. At the promotions ceremony the student demonstrates his or her skills and is awarded the next level of belt.
All products needed for the program including gi, bag, sparring gear and belt are all able to be purchased through the gym club. Martial Arts can be a whole family event where each member is trained at their level.
